Stories are at the center of who we are

This past week I was at an off-site where we spent a couple of days focused on team building.  One of the activities focused on the story of the group.  How should we communicate what we do?  How do we make our story consistent to the various people who need to hear it?  How would we put together the message?

Stories.

Stories live at the heart of each of us and provide some of the best ways we have to communicate.  They function as message, metaphor, and a gateway to memory. Stories give us the ability to understand the abstract with the simplest of words.  Stories provide depth to our world by providing commonalities.  Stories are foundational.  Fundamental.

When you communicate do you intentionally try and harness the power of stories to your benefit?  How do you ensure that the emotional side of your message is captured?
