I get asked a lot by people what I write about and invariably I say mostly real estate but it can get pretty tangential. The thing is, it’s all real estate. General business blogs are real estate focused. Lean/Six Sigma blogs are real estate focused. Business operations and finance blogs are real estate focused. But none of them realize it.
Real estate is one of those areas that cross every aspect of business. It enables top line revenue (most obviously in retail), impacts bottom line costs (correct alignment of function with geography), determines an organizations disaster recovery plans (data centers and headquarters), and can be a factor in on-going business success (supply chain/logistics). On top of that it is a huge financial obligation. With all of that you’d think that it would be front and center on business blogs, marketing blogs, lean/six sigma blogs. But it’s not.
So I apologize if I don’t specifically discuss real estate more often. The reason is that most of the “real estate” problems I end up solving aren’t traditional real estate problems at all.
