The New York Times ultimate troll opportunity.

It’s not what you think, this is non-political.

I recently got a new display shelving unit in my office to better organize the hoard of things I have. One of those things on the shelf is a framed copy of the cover of the New York Times my wife got for me for our first anniversary. It’s great because the lead story that day was “Mexican Lawmen Outmatched by Drug Violence” and includes a picture of a coffin being carried.

If the New York Times wanted to have a lot of fun one year, pick the biggest wedding day of the year and run a headline reading “Congratulations, this is Your Wedding Present!” and include some sort of stock wedding picture that could be any one of 90% of weddings. To the sides and below the fold they could still do their regular reporting but that headline would troll everyone who gets the cover as wedding mementos.

This one action would also immediately put the New York Times back on top of the must-read list (if it ever really fell off) because everyone loves a funny smart ass.

Just my thought for today….
