They never have been, never will be. To pretend otherwise is to focus only on such a narrow part of the problem as to miss sight of the big picture.
Customers come to you because they have a need that they can’t solve themselves. Either they are not capable of doing it themselves or they believe that your solution can make them better. Either choice means that the customer has some short-coming. And as soon as you understand that your customers have short-comings, you can begin the process of helping make them better.
No one likes an order taker, a yes man, etc. What most people want is help. They want someone to help them get better and do things in new ways (not too new or different though).
