I’m going off script today because the world has lost one of its greatest writers of the past quarter+ century. Whether it was through his multiple Discworld series, Long Earth, Neil Gaiman partnership with Good Omens and every other series out there he brought humor and insight into the story while shining a light on the world we live in.
If you’ve never read anything by him, I encourage you to go out and pick something to try. Many don’t think that his books are “for them” but I can promise you that he wrote for everyone. He may largely write fantasy worlds but they reflect us better than anyone else I have ever read.

Death isn’t cruel – merely terribly, terribly good at his job. -Sourcery
I believe in freedom. Not many people do, although they will, of course, protest otherwise. And no practical definition of freedom would be complete without the freedom to take the consequences. Indeed, it is the freedom upon which all the others are based. -Going Postal
Always remember that the crowd that applauds your coronation is the same crowd that will applaud your beheading. People like a show. -Going Postal
HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEET THE RISING APE. -Death in Hogfather
