Why does a company choose space in one building instead of another? Often it’s something as simple as it’s closer to the CEO’s home or because that’s the building they think looks best. It may be partly financially driven but cost is usually an early filter as opposed to the final deciding factor.
Perspective is key. Gaining an understanding of what the client wants from their space will help you be more effective at putting them where they want to be. For each new project you almost need to start witha clean sheet of paper and forget a lot of your past experience – don’t let yourself bias the process and start things down the wrong path. Ask questions, take notes and just talk. Get down to business later.
