My baby sister is entering the workforce – my one piece of professional advice was to never be afraid of asking for help. More than anything else, breaking this rule has gotten me in trouble and others in trouble with me. Trying to play hero or guessing at an answer can yield good results but it’s a risk/reward proposition. In times of uncertainty playing near the mean is a much better bet. It will both help you learn faster without wasting your time and others as well as help you establish relationships with those around you based on a common understanding of capabilities.
