I know that my grandmother’s apple pie recipe will never change. Some things are set in stone and they will always be the way they are.
I don’t know what my job is going to be like next year. I don’t know what changes technology will continue to have on the office.
It’s important to know things that can change and things that never will. It matters because over-thinking the things that won’t be around tomorrow is a waste of effort. When it comes time to plan, focus on flexibility. Focus on a space that meets the needs of today and is adaptable to what may come tomorrow.
Personally, I hope HP didn’t design their office for a single function because they just got out of the PC business.
