Humor is a key ingredient to successful work.

I love Richard Branson’s posts over at LinkedIn.  He offers more insight than I expected to get and he does it in a very relatable way.  The one I most recently noticed was one involving quite a bit of humor (some may even call it off color?).

Too often the issues and problems we are helping our clients solve are serious and have wide ranging business impact.  Humor is a great way to remind everyone to keep focused.  Tension is a great way to bring great ideas down because everyone is looking for even the tiniest flaw as opposed to taking a balanced evaluation.

Find your own client-facing sense of humor and work at it.  There’s no one size fits all solution.  But being able to bring a smile or chuckle out of colleagues and clients occasionally is invaluable to on-going success.
