Don’t forget to include the fun

It’s amazing how often these days people equate business with serious.  It’s as if we sometimes don’t believe that fun is allowed to exist inside the four walls of our workstations.  Raise your hand if your company blocks “fun” sites from access inside the office.

When working remember two things:

  • Never take the full time on any meeting that you schedule.  Let people out early for some unexpected recess.
  • Add a dash of humor (where appropriate) because it makes things more real.

This does a couple of things for you by proving that you are human too and making sure that everyone doesn’t take things too seriously.  Having a relaxed state of mind helps to ensure the proper perspective of things and realize that rarely are you solving life or death problems.  And when you are solving life or death problems you need to make sure stress doesn’t drive you to the wrong solution.
