Do you have the will to do what you must?

Most decisions are hard.  Some decisions are harder than others.  And then there are the decisions that take a true force of will to bring to fruition.  Those decisions which change the direction of your company and force you to say no to everything you used to do.

Why does will come into it?  Because when you commit to a big change you have to stand by through the pain that will inevitably come.  That pain will be accompanied by loud yelling, political pressure, lost revenues, lost profits and lots of doubt.  It will be harder than anything you’ve ever done.  It will take time.  You will want to stop many times along the way.  But you can’t.

Many people believe they have the will or as long as they themselves are strong enough everything will work itself out.  One person cannot force will upon others who don’t want it or haven’t signed up for it.  The will of one person alone cannot (generally) move mountains.

Do what must be done.  But also force others to do their jobs and stand by the decisions as well.
