As the saying goes, doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. But everyone does it occasionally. Stop it now.
Is there anything more frustrating than receiving the same email over and over and over and over about a topic that is simultaneously inconsequential, unimportant, unnecessary, and annoying (culprit #1: weekly time sheets that have no bearing on invoicing, business decisions or performance)? Yet people send those emails out regularly because “it’s their job.” If your job is to be insane it may be time to find a way to either fix it or move on.
Insanity is not a trait that does well over the long term. In fact, job required insanity is a good way to guess that you may be on a cut list when things turn bad.
On a related note, if you are a manager who requires any of your people to behave insanely then you need to reassess how you are dealing with things.
