CRE Tech Rule 4: Release the Alpha, Beta, RC1, etc versions for early use. Feedback is critical.

Release the Alpha, Beta, RC1, etc versions for early use.  Feedback is critical.

CRE is a complex industry.

There, I’ve said it.  Part of the reason that new technologies haven’t taken off yet is because there is a lot of nuance to the decisions that get made, inconsistent client structures, and many different approaches to the market by each broker, researcher, analyst, etc. in the field.

The only way you can overcome this issue is to get direct, interactive feedback early and often.  It’s too easy to think that you have the right approach and be absolutely, spectacularly wrong.  And the worst thing that we can do in innovation is to spend our time going down the wrong paths.  Our most valuable asset is our time.  Wasting it is the worst sin that can be committed.

Every delay costs us user time.  Every wrong path is time that competitors catch-up.  Every lost day is time that users stop thinking that we’re still working to give them what they need.
