The working world is changing rapidly. The rise of consumer technology, sustainable thinking by the general population, increased telecommuting and the decline of the traditional 9 to 5 workday are all leading toward a tipping point for the way businesses need to run their business.
Traditional real estate services firms aren’t setup to move companies to non-traditional environments. Negotiating a lease is great but every broker can do that (with varying levels of success). Putting in place alternative workplace designs and strategies are good but every architecture and design firm is doing that. Technology is needed to help implement the strategies and some of the new iWMS systems are great.
But who is putting all of it together? A great alternative workplace strategy is great but it isn’t going to get the most impact if it doesn’t also involve a redesign of the corporate real estate portfolio to put people in the right geographies. Technology is great but if it’s implemented in a way that doesn’t support the new alternative workplace or give the company flexibility to adapt to the changing world then it will eventually become a wasted investment.
If you aren’t looking for the partner who can help bring all this together, you won’t be ready for how you will soon be operating.
