Copyright and the internet

The joy of writing this blog is that I can hopefully help make the world a bit better in my little corner.  Maybe I can help people make their lives a little easier through a tip, trick or what to watch out for.  Maybe I convince someone to give CRE a shot that wouldn’t have done it otherwise.

I don’t write because I’m looking for copyright protection on my words.  However thanks to some in the legacy copyright industries I’m going to have to accept this protection on my words whether I want it or not.

Personally, I believe it is better for 15 people to read what I right and repost it wherever they want so that others then read it than for those same 15 to read it and keep it for themselves.  I don’t have ads, I don’t make money from this.  I do it for myself.  Why should I be forced to keep my words to myself if I don’t want to?

Anyway, this is just a mini-rant because more and more and more I’m seeing articles about copyright expansion and extensions.  It’s sad that everyone is taking a blanket approach and pretending that journalists, musicians, authors, movie producers should be treated the same as working parents, facebookers, bloggers, and just random Joes on the internet.
