Conversations are great, actions are still required.

Not long ago, I wrote that actions required words. Actions performed in the background that no one know about are easily ignored. The counterpoint is the obvious cliche of Actions speak louder than Words.

Even though it’s a cliche, it’s easy to forget to follow-up words with action. When you have a track record of delivering, it’s not hard to say you are going to do something and then not do it. Maybe you don’t consider it important, maybe you forget. Maybe you thought the conversation itself was all the action required.

Getting shit done is still the heart of it all. If you say it, do it. If you do it, call it out as finished. Don’t sit back and bask in the joy of a good conversation. Don’t sit back and kick your feet up because you got done early. Move on and then keep moving. The world isn’t waiting for you to keep up.
