Being #selfish isn’t always wrong or bad.

As kids we are taught to share and that selfishness is bad.  As we grow and mature that’s one of those things that stays with you.  One of the most hurtful things you can tell many people is that they are behaving selfishly.

But then comes the day when you are asked to do something that you feel is wrong because you can’t only rely on your ideas.  I’ll tell you what is worse than selfishness – doing something that is wrong simply to be “inclusive” or “embrace others.”  Why let the entire team fail because you want to let someone else have a brief moment of being in charge?  Steve Jobs was extremely selfish with how he ran Apple and not many would say he did it wrong.

With that, there are ways to be selfish without letting it get in the way of everything else that is going on.  You don’t have to force it or rub it in.  You also don’t need to throw the idea out first.

Handle it right, don’t be a jerk but feel free to be selfish if it’s the right thing.
