Not political affiliations – but hemispheres of the brain. Most people fall somewhere on the spectrum of math/science oriented – balanced – creative oriented and their position on the scale influences how they look at problems.
I’m a through and through left brainer even though I feel I have a strong ability to see the world through right-brain eyes when needed. The right vs. left perspective is one of the classic business disconnects. Trying to see a problem, let alone something larger, can be near impossible for people on opposite ends of the spectrum. However, both give valuable insight into the best solution.
The math, process and details are important (I think it’s obvious but again I’m a left brainer) but just as important is the story around all of that. Marketing, selling it to those that need to buy-in, putting the solution into something relate-able – this is also critical to making the good solution something that everyone will actually choose to get behind. I like to think of it as Math meets Message.
So how are you enabling your math team to build a better message?
