A picture is worth a thousand words and marketing makes the best pictures. Which is why you shouldn’t trust most marketing campaigns, videos, presentations, talks, studies, etc. Marketing is not proof – marketing is a vision of what could be.
Photoshop is loved by marketers because it can make a picture say more than a thousand words. New subtleties, context and capabilities can be added on a whim. It doesn’t mean that is how it actually works. It means that someone is very good at showing you a vision they want you to buy into to.
A core belief of mine is saying “Prove it.” I don’t like being sold by the sales guy. I’d much rather talk to the person that is actually going to do the work. Getting a straight answer of “maybe” is better than being told “yes” over and over only to find out it was supposed to be “yes, but.” Asking to see the working system or sample product is not an unacceptable request. It also forces the issue to make sure you know what you are buying.
