Box Thoughts
April 8, 2013

A comprehensive approach requires a comprehensive team.

Comprehensive:  of large scope.

It takes a team to cover everything that you need to take into account on a large project.  Too often, comprehensive is taken to mean “a large team.”  But comprehensive only means to cover everything.  It is possible to have a comprehensive team of size equal to 1.

Likewise, a $1MM project doesn’t necessarily require a certain number of people.  Cost and comprehensiveness do not necessarily correlate.

Comprehensiveness is a quality check box.  Either the team you have put together does or does not have all of the necessary skills to execute the defined project.  Don’t take it as more than that.  Put the team together that you need, not the team that aligns to any other measure.
