The weekend is dead….long live the weekend.

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t believe we’re 5 months into this year.  I’ve had one down week all year and weekends have been non-existent.  So this one I blew off my responsibilities and told myself to deal with it all on Monday.  You know what happened?  I had a great, relaxing weekend (if you haven’t seen the Avengers yet you really are missing an event) where I focused on me.  Got in to work on Monday and the world hadn’t burned down, no one had died, the work was all still there (other than some meaningless tasks that resolved themselves and saved me time) and no one even noticed.

Sometimes it’s important to remember that the world doesn’t revolve around us and things always find a way to get done.  Just because we can be connected 24/7 doesn’t mean we have to be.  Just because we can be doesn’t even mean that it is the most efficient way to spend our time.

They say that technology is killing our work/life balance but you know what – it’s showing who has personal accountability to the life side of the equation.  If you can’t manage the load you need to try a new method.
