Dumb but not Stupid

Last week was a rough week for me.  Lots of really good lessons were learned – lots of life lessons – lots of business lessons.  Somehow the week ended on a really high note though plus I learned the concept that it’s okay to be dumb as long as you aren’t stupid about it.

Dumb is doing something wrong in the spur of the moment.  Letting the frustration get to you or not giving yourself the time to think through something before making a decision.  Everyone does this sometimes.  That’s the thing about being “in the moment”, sometimes it jumps up and bites you.

Being stupid is something entirely different.  Stupid is giving yourself time from the moment, stepping back, and then still doing that dumb thing.  You’ve now added intention to the mix.  It’s intention that is hard to forgive.  Once you’ve made the decision it’s hard to go back.
