Workplace Experience is to CRE what UI/UX is to software

Software conversations often circle around the concept of User Interface and User Experience. No one uses poorly designed software unless they are forced to (plenty of these examples exist) but plenty of people freely choose to use beautiful, simple software even if it doesn’t do everything they’d expect.

An experience is all about how the user feels throughout their encounter. With software, it’s about how easily the user can intuitively figure out what they should do next. With real estate, it’s about how the user can productively go about their day.

There are plenty of people that talk about Workplace Experience within the real estate world but few elevate it to the level that UI/UX exist within the software world. I think it’s time we made that change and focused our CRE conversations around Workplace Experience.

Because if it isn’t about Workplace Experience, it’s probably about someone getting the best one-time financial deal they can. That usually doesn’t enhance productivity.
