Cyber Monday was this week. As e-commerce continues to grow by leaps and bounds it puts a growing strain on many large retail organizations that are still trying to adapt to this shift away from brick and mortar store sales. At the same time this trend raises an interesting conundrum. Are warehouses the new Big Box Retail locations? They’re bigger than stores, ship directly to consumers and with their digital store front are able to offer greater selection but easier ability to find anything you are looking for.
Wal-Mart is great, but Amazon is better. Maybe today we can make a switch in language to move the term Big Box Retail from the store itself to the distribution center. Someday soon I need to have a “Distribution is Sexy” week……
