How do you create a sticky solution in real estate?

I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it still:  CRE is a hard industry.  There’s a reason there is no mass adopted Enterprise CRE solution out there.  If you want something that does everything you do, you will be paying for a custom Tririga, Manhattan, Accruent or SAP.  None of them are sexy but after some customization they can do anything.

Sticky doesn’t mean doing everything.  Sticky is the idea that something is useful and becomes part of your everyday process.  It may be invisible.  It may only do a small 5 minute task.  Sticky is anything that is easy and makes you more productive.

Easy is an odd word in that sentence though.  Easy doesn’t necessarily mean automated or quick or no setup time.  Easy is a state of mind.  It is something that doesn’t cause a user to feel overwhelmed or out of their element.  Easy is about taking an idea, making it crystal clear and then doing something about it in a straightforward way.

Rarely is anything in Real Estate easy.  There are so many interconnections between any given activity that the activity becomes a small part of a larger web quickly.  Trying to “automate” a given component feels overbearing.

So the question we must ask ourselves is how do we find areas of our industry that we can build easy solutions on top of.  This is something I’ll be thinking on for a bit….
