Universal law of commuting. Humans throughout the world only commute total of 60 minutes.

This is one of those intuitive results that’s been semi-proven again (although to be fair it is also regularly disproven).  According to MIT research regardless of country, means of transportation or economic status the typical person will only commute an average of 60 minutes.  This is an interesting result for its practical uses in modern real estate portfolio planning but also for its anthropological impact.

Meaning as transportation speeds and availability improves our radius of opportunity grows proportionally.  Sure people in rural areas may commute further than this but in reality if they had a similar opportunity closer they would be likely to take it.  Note that this is a community average, not an individual maximum.  There will always be those with incentive to commute outside the upper band of this study.
