Make it marketable or don’t make it at all.

Every slide you create, every piece of paper you produce, every email you write (every post you put on your blog) is marketing.  Even the invoices you send out are marketing that send a message about your company.  Is it friendly and easy to read?  Is it abrupt and rude?  Is this someone I want to keep working with?

In this context, you can’t do anything haphazard.  There is nothing that doesn’t reflect on you and how you would work with existing or potential clients.  And everything you do before, during and after an engagement with them is a reflection on you as a person they would consider doing business with.  No black and white to it.

Think about that the next time you print an invoice to send.  Could you make it better and friendlier?  Is your email signature the way you want people to look you up?  Does it tell the world who you are?  It’s not hard, it just requires a little thought.
