Sometimes the better solution just doesn’t win… #winning

…and that’s ok.  Building the best widget to solve a problem is great, but if you can’t deliver it at a price the market wants or in a way the market wants they won’t buy it.  Sometimes simple and stripped down is the best path.  Having every feature possible can actually be a negative.

Let’s take Microsoft SharePoint for example.  It’s a great solution with LOTS of bells and whistles and easy to develop in to boot.  But how many consumer grade websites can you think of that utilize it as their consumer facing front-end?  Yeah, that’s what I thought.

I find it funny when teams push back that their solution is “better” even though they don’t have volume to back up that the marketplace agrees with them.

Editing and design judgment is a good thing.  Use it.
