Software personalities are different from brick and mortar personalities #CRE

Tech and real estate seem to be trending topics wherever you look (assuming you are looking in the same places I am at least).  But the more I’m living in between these two groups I’m seeing potentially insurmountable differences.  A lot of it I can tie back to people who think physically vs. those that think digitally.

There’s a belief that left and right brained thinkers are very different – and I agree with this philosophy.  I’d like to now posit that physical and digital thinkers are just as different.  It’s possible to be in the middle ground but it’s rare.

Those trying to tackle technology from within the industry usually suffer from lack of vision.  I see way too many completely uncompelling offerings.  Similarly those that tackle tech from the digital side suffer from a lack of understanding what real estate really is.  Real estate may be a set of physical characteristics but at the same time it is something much more, much bigger.

Next time you find yourself at an intersection of these two worlds step back and assess yourself.  Where do you fall?
